We Are United in Our Dedication to Children’s education, Poverty alleviation, disease free and healthy environment
Who We Are
Partnering to build a world where all are educated, healthy, happy and thriving.
Sahyog the helping hand is an organisation dedicated to providing access to education and opportunities to the poor and the underprivileged by helping them with access to better educational opportunities, better health facilities and livelihood options. We are a small team of individuals belonging to various Strata of society brought together by a common goal of serving it. Our members are a driven and motivated lot who aim to collectively alleviate poverty. We strive to bring smile and happiness to the lives of people who have otherwise been left out. We cherish our efforts and stay like a family through thick and thin. We have provided homeless people with temporary Shelters and also given them winter clothing
The initiative is wholly CSR sustained. The unique thing about us is that all our efforts are the result of a dream which we all share, that of an economically strong India devoid of poverty, illiteracy and misfortune. Our people should be able to dream for a better future. We take a step towards helping them with the same shared aspirations and dreams of 5S India (Swachh, Swasth, Shikshit, Samriddh and Sugamya).
Our Approach
History
Our journey began in the year 2008 with few of the socially conscious college friends, having an amateur passion for serving the society. The thought got consolidated during one of your visits to the slums near Howrah railway station. This particular visit left an impression on all of us to do something about these downtroddens. Therefore, who started visiting the slums frequently to understand the root cause and issues pertaining towards their deplorable conditions
From our learnings, we arrived at a conclusion that lack of money is not the primary reason for their plight, rather it is due to lack of socio-economic opportunities like primary education, health facilities and sanitation.
Who started discussions and deliberations on this issue within our social groups so as to spread the thought about the slums in India. As We moved along, this movement took shape and other like minded people joined their hands with us
In 2011, organised ourselves and started ground work in slums towards their empowerment and upliftment. Nearly after half a decade of hard work, we transformed into Pan India NGO registered in 2016. After evolved as fully functional organisation, we adopted couple of slums in South Delhi to transform them into 5S slums (swachh, Swasth, Shikshit, Samriddh and Sugamya)
